A wonderful reunion luncheon was held on 15th October for Old Girtonians from the ‘Jean d’Helin years’ (1952 – 1970).
More than 100 past students and teachers came together in Girton House and enjoyed a morning tea whilst browsing the school archives and reminiscing about the classes they once attended in the school’s oldest building.
This was followed by a school tour of Junior School and Senior School and a sit down luncheon held in two of the Performing Arts classrooms which were converted for the day into a lunchroom full of laughter and conversation.
The event marked the 50 year reunion for the Class of 1965 with the School Captain from the cohort, Rosie Turner, speaking fondly of both Headmistress Miss Jean d’Helin and of the group of girls at Girton College at the time.
Many friendships were rekindled with some friends catching up after 50 years and many more vowing to stay in touch.
Three generations of Girtonians (Rosalie Vanstan, Emma Buttolph – current School Captain – and Helen Buttolph) cut a ceremonial cake marking the special occasion
