A First Volume copy of The Girtonian magazine, dated December 1939 has been donated to the school by Sandhurst Trustees, the executor of the Will of the late Helena (Ena) Granter nee Thomas (1924-2013).

Ms Granter was born in Bendigo in 1924 and attended Girton, possibly as a border.

In this edition of the Girtonian, Ena wrote a short story, titled, “A Terrifying Moment” about a bushfire engulfing a country home. Many other short stories from students appear in this edition of The Girtonian.

This is one of many precious items finding its place in the archives of Girton House, currently being sorted into order by the OGA and Year 8 Community Service students.

The OGA is always looking to expand it’s historical archives and will happily accept donations that can be enjoyed by students, alumni and visitors.
