Some beautiful treasures were recently donated to the OGA by Alice Clague, daughter of Marjorie Crossman (nee Bail) who attended Girton as a Boarder in 1929 and 1930.
In particular, a notebook of Marjorie’s provides a lovely social commentary of the times and of the school.
She talks of sixpenny pocket money being pooled to buy cakes for picnics and secret midnight suppers!
She also recalls having cold showers year round, being served a slice of bread and jam after school and being in bed by 9 ‘clock each night.
